York 2014
Matlock and Dales Branch weekend outing to York
York Minster
What a trip and so brilliantly organised by MAD member Simon Ainley. Gathering over the weekend and using the Youth Hostel as a base the group of MAD members armed with maps and lists of pubs galore set out to visit as many of York's finest hostelries.
On the Friday night the pubs around the York minster were the main focus which included the National Inventory listed Blue Bell, the Ossett owned Hop, York Brewery's Three Legged Mare and the Duke of York belonging to Leeds Brewery.
After some free time to explore York with most taking the opportunity to visit the Railway Museum is was back to the itinerary and meeting up at the York Tap, at the railway station on the Saturday lunchtime the expanded group set about the pubs around the walls and south east part of York taking in the Brigantes, Maltings, Slip Inn, Swan, Waggon and Horses White Swan Hotel and Phoenix before some taking a break before the proposed city center exploration on the Saturday evening taking in a few different and some pubs that just had to be revisited.
